Shandrial_: Revenant you always have something negative to say about everything it seems. Id like to see you upload a personal render that you have done and let the rest of us judge what you have done if it is poor or not. I for one dont render I do tribal art for a couple tattoo shops locally as a side gig.

Biodeamon: hmmm i'll have to agree with shan, but on a less harsher note. Criticsm is okay as long as you do it constructively or leave suggestions for improvent. Just plain put downs is unaceptable.

menthos: Biodeamon, what exactly do you want to improve here? There is noone who can get a benefit of sugestions or critics. As long it doesn't reach the Artist, it's useless anyway.

Biodeamon: hoho, that is where you are quite mistaken. just because advice doesn't reach it's intended destination doesn't mean it's wasted. others can learn from reading it too, such as what to do and not to do in art. the only way it could be wasted is if nobody was listening.

Revenant: Shan, I have uploaded many of my own CG renders, and you've commented favorably on many of them. For the record, I don't have something negative to say about everything, it just seems like those are the only ones you remember. ;)

But, since I do this sort of artwork, I have to call out crap when I see it.

Revenant: Ok, some specific criticisms:

1) The breasts, especially the nipples, are pretty strange, as someone else pointed out. I don't think the person who made this knows much about the morphs they were using.

2) They did nothing to alleviate the mesh artifacts around the hips when bending the legs in such a way. You either need to postwork that stuff, or avoid using poses which cause those artifacts to become visible.

3) The posing of the facehugger isn't very good. Some of its "fingers" are intersecting her head.

4) The posing of her hands doesn't make a lot of sense.

5) There is an artifact on the underside of the alien's secondary mouth, the black spot. Looks like some oversmoothing of polygons.

The artist just doesn't look very experienced.

Shandrial_: Point me to some of your own uploads and I'll be glad to revisit them. Just lately I nearly every comment I have seen you post has been quite negative. I would just once like to see you post something neutral or positive for a change.
I know not every artist is as good as the next - just like when I instruct in martial arts - I dont put down the new student cause he/she cant spar very well I tell them what they did good and where they can improve and show them how to make the most of their current strengths.

This person did far better than I could in this medium so I at least appreciate the effort it took. My only forte in art is ink work tribal. I like to think I'm fairly good at it but I appreciate art for the effort no matter what.

Hanky-Spanky2: The worst thing you can do to an artist is tell them their work is good when it isn't Shan. You don't need programming skills to tell this looks hideous, you just need eyes.

Promises: I agree. Criticism, especially since its followed up with specific points, should drive improvement. I cant make great video games, but I can still point to flaws in them as a player. Does this mean ill be on the chopping block for the choose your own text adventure i programmed in 11th grade?

Shandrial_: Snow I have studied 7 styles, Aikido, Kenjutsu, Tae Kwon Do, Kempo, Muy Thai, Wing Chun Kung Fu, Aikujutsu. My highest rank is 5th Dan. I have studied for 33 years nearing 34 now.

Archanid: How IS Wing Chun? Got a month pass to the International Academy of Wing Chun for $22. (Good deal since it usually costs $140)

Shandrial_: Wing Chun is very good for small to medium size persons, for it utilizes speed and rapid hits to the same location to wear down your opponent. I like it for taking on larger people by using my speed and precision to max effect.

Shandrial_: Im by no means small Hell Im a touch short of 5'10" but I am very quick and hit hard as hell due to not committing my strike till the last possible second and at that instant I coil everything into it for max effect.

Archanid: I got worried when you said "small to medium," but I'm 5' 9", so it might work out for me. I'm not big on stamina, though. Maybe I'll work on that.
